Role of Applications

Documenting a day in your life nowadays in the digital era has become easier and easier with the use of the computer. Computer applications like word processors, spreadsheet applications and presentation ones increase organization, efficiency and flexibility. They are used daily by almost everyone, for personal or business reasons. When comparing the functions of each of these computer applications, these programs serve different purposes.

The main word processing application is Microsoft Word. Word is used to create files that contain text and formatting information. This program is widely used by authors, researchers, businesses and students because of its great features. Word has traditional options like copy, cut and paste that make life easier and save time when needed. Word allows page formatting, adding headers and footers and text formatting, where you can use different font and size for your text. Word allows opening and editing PDF files, and vice versa saving a formatted text file as a PDF file, making it more accessible between different operating systems, and devices.

One of the most common used spreadsheet applications is Excel. Excel allows you to present your data in spreadsheets, where the values are arranged in rows and columns and simple or complex formulas and functions are used to manipulate this data based on the user’s needs. Excel allows more than one sheet in a single file and supports different formatting depending on the user’s style. Data can be presented in charts and diagrams, 2D, 3D, pie charts etc. Excel is perfect for sharing this data throughout a network; different parts of an organization can access and manipulate the spreadsheet in real time and the changes would be visible to anyone that has access.

Powerpoint is a the most powerful slide show presentation software. Presentation programs are used to present information that include both text and multimedia. It is a great tool for creating presentations from scratch or many templates that are offered in by the program. Powerpoint is preferred by many individuals and organizations to present their topics and share their results and data easily due to it being portable and flexible. Powerpoint allows custom animations, photos, videos and sound effects. It can easily be shared between different users, and you can also save it as a webpage and a link will be created for everyone to follow the presentation.

Another application that is popular for data management is Microsoft PowerApps. PowerApps helps its users store different kinds of information and data for reporting and analysis. Unlike Excel, PowerApps main purpose is not performing complex calculations and formulas, but keeping data organized and easy to search between multiple users. Businesses and organizations use database management software to track their sales, viewing and filtering initiatives, executive summaries etc.

These different programs are designed to do different things. Working with all these applications documenting a day in my life was very efficient in different ways. In documenting a day in life, these programs can be all useful depending on what the result needs to be. If you’re plainly documenting a day as a page in your diary, Word can be the most useful for that.
If you’re tracking how much money you spent on a certain day, calculating expenses etc. Excel might be the most useful one. And finally, if you’re presenting in front of an audience and want to make it more interactive, Powerpoint allows videos, sounds and photos in addition to animations on text so that can be the best way to present a day.
