COMPUTERS IN SALES INDUSTRY

The sales industry has changed drastically with the development of information technology and computers. Today we are living in a more than ever connected world thanks to modern technology, computers and the internet. For companies this means that the whole world is their market. Technological improvements are not only beneficial for business that are operating in the market as sellers, but also for customers who are more educated on products, whole industries and competition.

Today no business can be successful without the presence of computers and digital tools. The e-commerce sales industry is so competitive that no company without a strong online presence will succeed and thrive. Looking at the success story of Amazon.com, which is one of world’s most valuable brands, they were able to capitalize on the internet and the power of computers to create the largest customer base. Early on they used technology to record every move a client made, every click and they used that data to measure customer-centric metrics, to make well informed decisions about the strategy of the company. Information technology has made possible data-driven automation in every sector of the sales industry.  Automation of tasks as data entry, emailing customers, lead enrichment, reporting and AI has made possible for the sales reps to focus more on meeting goals and closing sales.

The past years, as the pandemic had its effect all over the world we have seen even further changes on how companies sell, again driven by technology. Despite virtual/online selling and automation and customers demanding faster response times, business still have to stay relevant by providing more personalized experiences a through human factor, since people still buy from people. In the next 10 years technology will totally still have a huge effect on the sales industry, and will help companies as well as customers make more informed decisions.
